Right Click Solutions Technology Trends for 2022

January 11, 2022

Technology is constantly evolving and advancing its capabilities. This year will bring technological developments for many industries with several enhancements to the services we offer. Let’s look at some of the research our marketing intern Katie Gregory found on the top tech trends that are up and coming in 2022.

Trend 1: VPNs

“Using a VPN is the most secure way for those working remotely to create a protected internet connection. The VPN encrypts your internet traffic and disguises your online identity making it more difficult for cybercriminals to track your online activity.”

-Brian Lufker, Senior Network Engineer at Right Click Solutions

  • A Virtual Private Network (VPN) gives you online privacy and anonymity by creating a private network from a public internet connection. VPN services establish secure and encrypted connections to provide privacy when working remotely.
  • Employing a VPN is an affordable way for your organization to prevent critical data breaches
  • Benefits of VPN include:
    • Improved internet connection
    • Find the best deals when shopping online
    • Maximum security; unlike using free public wifi, using VPNs ensure your data cannot be accessed

Trend 2: Cloud Computing

“The top 3 reasons our clients are considering a cloud-based infrastructure are security, flexibility, and mobility.  In the last 6 months, we have had increased interest in this solution and I have been able to successfully work with several of our clients to design a custom, scalable cloud environment that meets their unique business needs.”

-Jeff Lacker, Senior Network Engineer at Right Click Solutions

  • According to Gartner, a technology research and consulting firm, spending on cloud services is going to reach $482 billion globally in 2022, which is roughly a 53% increase from 2021
  • Advantages that your organization can enjoy from cloud computing include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Cut costs
    • Enhanced security (the cloud computing host monitors not only external threats, but internal threats as well)
      • According to RapidScale Managed Cloud Services, 91% of organizations realized improved security after making the switch to cloud computing
    • Efficiency and Flexibility
      • Utilizing cloud computing will free up time for your organization to focus on how to best run the business and make money instead of worrying about IT issues
      • According to RapidScale Managed Cloud Services, 20% of cloud users were able to experience disaster recovery in 4 hours or less, whereas only 9% of non-cloud users experienced the same

Trend 3: Endpoint Detection and Response

“We have been using Endpoint Detection and Response next-generation antivirus for the better part of a year now and have seen several clients benefit from the advanced AI algorithms detecting viruses and rolling back devices to pre-infected state.  EDR has proven effective for many of our clients in stopping viruses in their tracks and preventing other endpoints on a network from being infected.”

-Dan Taplitz, Owner of Right Click Solutions

  • Endpoint Detection & Response is an advanced next-generation antivirus software that protects against cyber threats using an agent that is installed on your computer for monitoring and reporting virus-related activities
  • Alerts you to present threats and their source, which enables the most effective response to mitigate the threat
  • Unlike traditional antivirus, EDR uses the latest artificial intelligence to detect and prevent both current and emerging cyber threats

Trend 4: Multifactor Authentication

“Since 2018 I have been recommending that our clients implement Multi-Factor Authentication to secure their login credentials.  At that time, many applications like banking and online shopping sites, started offering MFA as an optional login security feature.  We researched the emerging MFA services that year and decided to partner with DUO MFA so that we could offer our clients a quality MFA service with a user-friendly interface, that gave them an extra layer of security for their logins.”

Dan Taplitz, Owner of Right Click Solutions

  • MFA protects against phishing, social engineering, and password brute-force attacks and secures your logins from attackers exploiting weak or stolen credentials
  • This added layer of security is especially important now due to the movement of business operations online
  • Ensures that the only people accessing your organization’s system are authorized individuals and not bad actors
  • When somebody attempts to log in to your accounts, you will be notified immediately to approve or deny entry into the account
